Frequently Asked Questions
-
We currently teach in most areas across Perth. As we are still a growing business, we may not always be able to service every suburb immediately. However, we still encourage families to enquire regardless. If we are unable to travel to your area at this stage, we can add your suburb to our future service list as we continue expanding and hiring more staff.
-
Families can submit an enquiry through our website to request a lesson spot. Once we receive your enquiry, we will review availability based on your location, preferred days and times, and the needs of your swimmer.
We will contact all families via email regardless of the outcome, whether we are able to offer a position or not. If a suitable lesson space is available, we will provide booking information and the next steps.
As our program is intentionally kept small and personalised, availability is limited and places cannot always be guaranteed.
-
Families will receive a response by the date listed at the top of the application form, which is generally around two weeks before the upcoming term begins.
We operate using application periods, allowing families to apply within a set timeframe before each term. This gives us time to carefully organise the schedule and allocate positions fairly based on all applications received during that period. Applications submitted within the application window are given priority consideration.
Families who apply outside of the application period are still welcome to enquire. These applications will be reviewed based on remaining availability once all in-period applications have been processed.

Lessons continue in most weather conditions, including rain, and are only cancelled in the event of lightning or conditions considered unsafe.
As our lessons are primarily held throughout the warmer months, weather conditions are generally suitable for swimming. Learning to swim in a variety of conditions can also be beneficial for building confidence, resilience and water familiarity.
Families are responsible for ensuring the pool environment is comfortable and suitable for their child to participate in the lesson. If a swimmer chooses not to participate due to weather conditions outside of our control, the lesson will still be considered as scheduled.
-
Once a lesson position has been confirmed, families will receive an invoice for the term via Xero. Payments can be completed securely online by card or bank transfer.
As enrolments are booked on a term basis, payment is required prior to the commencement of lessons to secure your position.

Our instructors will assess each student and teach them at the level they believe is most appropriate for their current ability. After the first lesson, parents will be informed of the level their child is working at and the skills they are expected to meet.
At the end of each 7 week term, every student will receive a certificate and a small prize recognising their progress, outlining the skills they have achieved and the level they are currently working at.

At this stage, we do not offer casual or trial lessons. Enrolments are completed on a term basis to support consistency, routine and stronger long term progress for each swimmer.
We understand that choosing the right swim school is important, so we are always happy to answer any questions before enrolment to help families feel confident in their decision.
-
Lessons run for 15 minutes to 1 hour. Once a week over 3, 7 week terms. However we are happy to acommodate requests for varying situations so don’t hesitate to reach out.
-
For joint Lessons the students will need to be of very similar levels of ability. It falls on the parents to assess this before enrolling their children. If the students are below the “School Aged” program, the instructor reserves the right to request a parent join the lesson to manage the students safety.
-
No equipment is required for lessons, as all teaching equipment is provided. We simply recommend that swimmers bring a comfortable pair of goggles for their lessons.
-
Yes. All instructors hold the appropriate swim teaching qualifications, maintain current insurance, and have a valid Working With Children Check.
We place a strong focus on professionalism, safety and high-quality instruction, and take great care in ensuring every instructor is highly skilled, experienced, and genuinely passionate about working with children and families.
Due to the nature of mobile lessons, instructors often work independently rather than alongside other staff members. Because of this, we strongly value open communication with families and encourage all compliments, feedback or concerns to be reported directly to contact@neighbourhoodswimmers.com.au so standards, support and quality can always be closely maintained.
